Free Classroom Materials for TeachersDCU Provides Assistance for Youth Financial Literacy
One of our biggest concerns is the financial literacy of Americans. For us to achieve our vision that all members achieve financial well-being, financial education is absolutely essential. Some of this education can occur in the schools and DCU is prepared to help teachers.
The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) High School Financial Planning Program began in 1984 as a public service to increase the financial literacy of America's youth. The program is partly funded by credit unions nationwide. The free six-part program provides teens with a greater understanding of their finances and how to manage them. It focuses on goal setting, budgeting, and saving.
The program uses games, simulations, case studies, and interactive exercises. It gives students hands-on experience to test and apply the financial principles and concepts being taught.
There are three main purposes of this program...
This program is strictly non-commercial in content. It does not promote financial or other products. An instructor's manual is provided for each teacher. Students are given their own student guides with perforated portfolio pages at no cost.
